cchs about us

The Chippewa County Historical Society (CCHS), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization located in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, was established in 1969 by an enthusiastic group of volunteers who were committed to ensuring that Chippewa County’s rich and colorful history would not be forgotten. For many years the Society was housed in the original convent of Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls, at 123 Allen Street. In 2023, CCHS moved into the new, state-of-the-art Chippewa Area History Center building at 12 Bridgewater Avenue in Chippewa Falls.  The new building was designed to honor the historic “Big Mill” located at the confluence of Duncan Creek and the Chippewa River in downtown Chippewa Falls.
